These are the last in a series of small paintings I made as gifts for my siblings.  It took a little while for the tree to come together, but the branch with the mushrooms almost painted itself (after covering over an unacceptable first attempt).

Here's yet another small (somewhere around 4x6 inches) study in acrylic.  Someday I'll bust out my oils again, but in the meantime I'm still having fun with plastic paint.

Gifts

These I painted for my little sisters.  Notice the really thick handling of paint on the boat image.  Yes, it was a struggle.  Sometimes I forget the notion of patience...

As you can see from these studies, I'm still learning how to properly reproduce my paintings.  It's tough coercing the digital image into a closer likeness of the original.  Sometimes it's the limitations of one's resources (the scanner I use, for instance, can be a little finicky), but more often, it's just me.  So, I press on, learning as I go.

Both of paintings above are acrylic.  The conch is on plywood, the knight on what I think is 1/8 inch MDF.

Here are some more of those postal watercolors.

So, the guy on the left.  As is probably more than evident, I fought the medium and biffed the anatomy.  Alas.

Hello... Again

Clearly I've been neglecting this blog.  So, here, enjoy a couple watercolors originally painted to hide--or distract from... or make up for--my otherwise soporific letters.

I'm not one for writing New Year's resolutions I may or--more likely--may not keep, so don't expect any.  Nevertheless, as you might infer from this post, I am indeed still among the living--and I have more art stuff I'm more or less willing to share.  I hope to see you around.
