Breaking the Silence

So. Two years. That's easily enough time to drop something and forget about it, easily enough time for that something to migrate to the deepest recesses of one's closet or bury itself in the dust under one's bed. That's what this blog feels like right about now: a half-forgotten something I've just discovered in the substrata beneath my furniture. And the discovery makes me wonder, “How did this get here?” Or, more accurate: “Where has the time gone?”

My answers feel too much like excuses, so I'll withhold them. Instead, as I blow off the dust on this blog and oil its rusted joints, I'll show you some of the finished pieces that have kept me busy over the last two years. Disclaimer: There's not much to show.

Nevertheless, to start things off (again), here's a piece I made for my brother-in-law. This is one where the end product was quite a bit different from the initial image as I saw it in my head. Naturally, I forgot to take a proper photograph of the thing prior to giving it away...

König. The piece in all its rough-edged, messy glory.

A more frontal shot kindly provided by my sister.

One painting? That's it?

Not quite. I've got a few more paintings to show--and some new ones I've nearly finished. Rather than dump them all into one post, I'll cleverly dangle the idea of them in front of you to get (/entice/ lure/inveigle/coerce) you to come back.

For those of you who are interested, I post my sketches on tumblr (here). My portfolio, which is mostly old and in the process of a slow-ish update, can be found here. Links to these obscure corners of the internet that I inhabit can also be found in the sidebar if you need them in the future (but, shoot, you could bookmark these sites to make it really easy).
